Special sessions

With a view to enhance the Technical Program and focus on specific topics and areas, SP2018 is seeking proposals for Special Sessions to be held during the conference. We encourage interdisciplinary topics and/or important new emerging areas of interest related to the main conference topics.

Each special session proposal should contain the following information:

  • Title of the proposed session
  • Names and affiliations of organizers (including brief bio and contact information)
  • Tentative list of papers (titles/affiliations /authors), if available
  • Justification of interest, fit, and impact for SP2018 conference scopes and themes (maximum 1 page)
  • Additional or non-standard resources (e.g. data, equipment, poster stands, etc.) required for organizing the special session

The submitted proposals will be reviewed by the Special Session co-Chairs. Each special session is expected to consist of at least four accepted papers. After the proposal acceptance, papers in the special session should be submitted as all other papers through the conference submission system (easychair). To ensure high quality of the contributions, same review procedure and criteria will be applied to all papers. At least one author for each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper during the special session.

On approval of their proposals, the special session organizer(s) will be responsible for soliciting papers, communicating with session authors, ensuring deadlines are met by the authors, suggesting reviewers for the session, posting recommendations for the approval or rejection of papers based on the collected reviews, communicating with the special session chairs, and moderating the session at the conference.
