Call for workshops

The Organizing Committee of Speech Prosody 2018 is inviting proposals for workshops to be held during the conference. We will facilitate the organization of workshops focused around certain topics or areas of prosodic research that seem to require special attention because of its current scientific status or importance. Among others, we are looking forward to receiving proposals dedicated to everyday practice of prosodic research including technical issues (e.g. pitch extraction methods, duration modelling, speech signal recording or processing). Workshops will be organised within the conference, using its facilities, although the exact formula is negotiable and may be decided jointly by workshop convenors and SP2018 Committee. We thus need detailed information on your plans and requirements. If you are interested in organizing a workshop, please contact us at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Your proposal should include:

  • workshop name and acronym
  • organizers’ name and contact info (e-mail, possibly also mobile phone as quick contact may be necessary immediately before or during the conference)
  • proposed duration of the workshop
  • estimated number of participants
  • invited speakers (if any)
  • technical requirements
  • a short description of the motivation for the workshop (to be published on the conference web page)

Precise dates of the workshops will be decided by SP2018 Organising Committee. Submissions from the potential workshop speakers should be made using the regular submission procedure but authors should mark in the submission system that their contribution is meant for a particular workshop. Workshop organizers will be involved in the reviewing procedure. Submissions that won’t fit into the thematic scope of a given workshop or will not qualify for other reasons may be considered further as regular conference submissions. Workshops may also have a different formula, with submissions based on abstracts (without full paper contributions) or with the use of an external submission system. However, in the latter situation, it might be necessary to discuss the possibilities or individual conditions of including the workshop materials in the SP2018 Proceedings.

Submissions deadline: September 15th 2017
Notification of acceptance: October 1st 2017
Paper submission: according to the general schedule of the conference (unless additional contributions are considered)

Yours sincerely,
Maciej Karpiński & Katarzyna Klessa
Workshop Coordinators
